Sawyer is part of our  'Classic' Flint Sky Team - and he is, without a doubt, the rock of the pack.
He comes from traditional UK lines of dogs that have been proven in harness in dryland mushing, sledding, and weight pull. We are so very grateful to Lorna and Steve from Articrainbow for letting us have this amazing boy as part of our family. Sawyer is lucky Number 7 from his litter, an unexpected surprise and everything we wanted for our team.
Sawyer is an absolute joy to have around the house. Always the peacemaker and a quiet and calm addition to our home (and adopted brother to our cat), he fit in perfectly from the day he arrived. With an excellent temperament, Sawyer is calm and never has a problem with any of the animals in the house. He is also overwhelmingly obedient for a Malamute!  We never ever have to fuss at Sawyer, our gentle giant.   He has been an absolutely vital part of both our team and our household now for 6 years. He has a work ethic to die for - his favourite thing in the world is running on the rig in any conditions, for any distance, on his own or with his girls - so long as he's leading out a team he's happy. He is so important to us as our lead dog and the one who makes everything come together and work. He's very protective of his girls and loves them dearly. He's also one of the most powerful dogs I've ever known - able to pull over 1400 lbs and yet still has the speed to consistently come in the top two or three in any freight class he runs in. He's happy to backpack endless miles and has taken me to numerous mountain tops. He is a dog we are very honoured to have as a foundation for our kennel and future breedings.

Sawyer's Show Critiques

7 months. Lovely pup. I liked his head - he had a good back skull and a sweet expression with a lovely dark eye. Correct bite. Really liked his overall body shape and proportions. He had good shoulders and a lovely forechest. Plenty of coat. Good feet; large and compact. Good pasterns. Topline a little level at the moment. Good tail set and carriage. A little unsettled on the move at times but he’s only a baby and he got it together in the end.
