Welcome to Flint Sky

Based in the heart of the Scottish Highlands we are a small, family-run kennel of working Malamutes (and one cat).  Our dogs are a very big part of our lives and we share and enjoy everything we do with them. Our dogs are members of our family and so much more than our pets - they are our partners and we are all part of the Flint Sky Team.

Our road to owning, working and showing Alaskan Malamutes is a long one and it has been the culmination of many years of work, planning and dreaming to get to this point in our lives. We now both dedicate most of our time to these amazing dogs - to all disciplines of working as well as showing. Our dogs have excelled in both areas, with both Sawyer and Memphis being awarded the Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK's Working Malamute of the Year Top Rally Dog and Bitch for the 2016-2017 season.

All of our dogs have qualified for Crufts every year since they've been old enough to show, and recently our oldest Memphis gained her stud book number at Working and Pastoral Breeds of Scotland 2019.

We are deeply devoted not only to our own dogs but to the breed as a whole, and endeavour in every aspect of our dealings with our dogs as well as our breeding plans and ethics to maintain the health and integrity of this very ancient breed. We work every dog that we own so we know that not only do the dogs we raise have the right conformation, health and physical attributes so important to the breed, but also the drive, stamina and physical ability to do the work for which they were bred.

We compete in all types of working events from racing to trekking to weightpull, as well as long distance backpacking. We've entered events from the tip of Scotland to the very south of England and recently competed in the WSA World Sled Dog Championships in 2019.
We were also the fastest all Malamute 2 dog team at SHCGB Aviemore 2017 winning the Polar Run trophy as well as the fastest all Malamute team of the event that year. Recently our girl Memphis won the Alaskan Malamute Working Association M1 racing Championship 2 years running - making her one of only two Malamutes in the UK ever to achieve this.

In our years with the dogs we have been active members of the following organizations:

Alaskan Malamute Working Association
Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK
United Canine Sports Club
Alaskan Malamute Club of America
Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain
Scottish Siberian Husky Club
Sled Dog Association of Scotland

Red worked as editor for the Alaskan Malamute Working Association's club magazine, The Worker for three years and both Tim and Red were involved in organizing the Aviemore trek for 2020 & 2021.

If you are interested in learning about our upcoming breeding, or in discussing both the benefits and challenges of owning this incredible breed, feel free to contact us, we will help you in any way we can.
